General Illness Guidelines

What To Do When You Are Sick 

  • Complete the Illness Intake Form, which is reviewed by QCC’s Health Team. You will receive an email and/or call from a Health Consultant after your form is reviewed. 
  • Stay home if you have a fever, vomiting or diarrhea until you are symptom free for at least 24 hours. If you have a fever, you must be fever-free without fever-reducing medications, such as Tylenol, for at least 24 hours before your return.  

You tested positive for COVID-19:   

  • Complete the Illness Intake Form, which is reviewed by QCC’s Health Team.  You will receive an email and/or call from the Health Consultant after your form is reviewed. 
  • Wear a well-fitting medical grade mask around others for 10 days after testing positive.   
  • Quarantine in your home for a minimum of 5 days. 
  • To return after 5 days you must meet CDC criteria:   
    • You must be fever-free, without the use of medications for at least 24 hours   
    • You must have a significant reduction in overall symptoms    
  • You must also review your symptoms prior to returning to campus with QCC’s Health Consultant. The Health Consultant will determine if your symptoms are reduced enough to return to campus.  

You have been exposed to COVID-19: 

(This is defined as being unmasked within 6-feet of a COVID-19 positive person for 15-minutes, or more in a 24-hour period) Exposure protocol is now the same for both a one-time exposure and if someone in your home is COVID positive.  

  • Complete the Illness Intake Form, which is reviewed by QCC’s Health Team. You will receive an email and/or call from a Health Consultant after your form is reviewed.  
  • Wear a well-fitting medical grade mask for 10 days post exposure.   
  • Quarantine only if you are symptomatic   
  • Important to note: If you present any symptoms, you must discuss your symptoms and test results with a QCC Health Consultant before returning to campus.
