This course covers topics based in reality using the tools of fiction - structure, characterization, plot, scene, dialogue, style, etc. - to animate storytelling and discover truth. Students examine readings from this genre both as scholars and writers, and cover core components of crafting memoir, personal essays, and literary journalism. Students also examine topics that include the role of memory, perception, subjectivity and ethical questions inherent in this genre as students produce original work of creative nonfiction. Prerequisite: ENG 102 Semester Offered: F/S
