Important Fall 2026 Award Information:  

• Federal Student Loans - There are substantial changes to federal student loan eligibility effective in 2026-2027.  QCC has put the following in place to ensure students who need federal student loans have access to them while the federal government is still rolling out the implementation of the new rules:
  • Students who are only eligible for federal student loans (e.g. those with prior bachelors degrees, or other reasons) will be offered federal student loans on their initial award offer letters shortly.
  • All other students will not have a federal student loan automatically included on their award letters. Students who wish to borrow a federal student loan for their educational expenses should submit the:
    • • • Federal Direct Student Loan Request Form
• The Free Community College Grant program replaces the MassEducate and MassReconnect grant programs effective Fall 2026.  Eligible students will continue to have their tuition and fees covered. Allowance funds will only be available to students with a FAFSA SAI at or below 20,000.

Fall 2026 refund checks will be available starting in late October and will be generated weekly thereafter. Funds will be disbursed to student accounts as they are received from the federal and state governments and eligibility is confirmed. Some funds may not disburse until later in the semester.  Refund checks are created when the funds disbursed to the student's account exceed the tuition and fees charged. 

Have you heard about Free Community College? Eligible MA residents can apply for financial aid and receive grant funding to cover their tuition and required fees. Many students will also qualify for an allowance for books and supplies! The first step is to submit your FAFSA! 

Was your eligibility for financial aid suspended due to the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy? The Financial Aid Office has implemented a new online SAP Appeal Form for students who had extenuating circumstances. You must log into The Q to access the form.

• Once the Financial Aid Office receives your missing documents, it can take up to three business days before The Q  is updated.

• QCC has partnered with ProVerifier+ to assist with the verification process. If your FAFSA was selected for verification, you may receive an email with separate portal access including instructions on how to complete verification with ProVerifier+. Information requested within the ProVerifier+ portal must be returned through the ProVerifier+ portal (not to QCC directly).

• Students can agree to their Credit Balance Authorization electronically. When you login to The Q, a pop up appears and you can either “agree” or “disagree” to allow QCC to apply your financial aid to all charges on your bill. You can agree even if you do not currently have financial aid, but may in the future as this agreement is active for the duration of your enrollment at QCC.
