American Literature I (ENG 251 (UG16))
Term: First Summer Session 2016 (UNDG)
This course examines American literature from approximately 1600-1870, covering poetry, fiction, essays, and autobiography. Students explore literary movements and major authors of major American time periods including the Puritan, colonial, Revolutionary, Romantic, Transcendentalist, and abolitionist eras. Students examine how writers influenced both their own times and subsequent generations. Prerequisite: ENG 102. F/S/SU
